I heard that DISNEY where looking for UCLAN students to work in the Disney resort Florida over the summer. I attended the Presentation and got given a group interview time for 3pm that day. I felt that in the group interview it was difficult to be heard as the girl I was up against was loud and talked over everyone else. I think the interviewer liked that I didnt mind giving anything ago and join in, that I was creative and also confident. I think I could have discussed more about my course and sold it abit better. The reason for this was the lack of preparation as I had decided to do the job last minute. I GOT THROUGH TO THE SECOND STAGE!
Nerves kicked in as I new I would have tough competiton so I arranged a Mock Interview with the FUTURES department. This helped as I was told that I needed to learn more about the company instead of just the extra details. I got told to practise a bit more and consider more skills that I have to sell myself.I took all of his advise on board and felt that the mock interview made me feel alot more confident. Checking the Disney websites made me feel more confident as it gave me more to talk about in the interview. Its important to get background knowledge to help answer the questions.

The day of the second interview came. I woke up feeling really confident and arrived at the venue saying hello to everyone and smiling. We watched a presentation and I was given a interview time of 6.10pm. I returned for the interview and was aware that the company was watching my every move. I made sure I spoke to everyone in the room and became really nervous.
In the interview I think that I answered the question, why do you want to work for this company? well as I showed the interviewer a nighty which I had kept as a kid so that my memory could last forever. It showed edge and that I had thought about the interview and company. The interviewer asked, what could you tell Americans about your home country? I answered I could tell them about the Liver buildings and Mersey ferries where I should have linked my home town to America in a better way. She asked about my job history? I linked it to the job I was after.
If I was to do this job interview again I would have discussed about my home town in more depth and looked at similarities and differences that could be interesting for them to find out. My feelings changed right the way through the experience:excitement, nerves, stress to relief. The experience was really exhausting but will hopefully be worth it in the end. The Disney position will open up lots of new opportunites, will give me more of a insight into the Textiles/Fashion work and enhance my interviewing skills.
